Forest Planning

A Forest Plan is a high level document created for each National Forest. They are updated every 10 to 15 years to keep them current with the changes that take place in social interests, scientific data, and environmental concerns. Forest Plans contain Standards and Guidelines which give directions for management of the forest. Areas are also defined by a management prescription, or area description, such as wilderness, or timber harvesting. Forest Plans give direction for individual projects that are proposed on the National Forests. Participating in the planning process for our National Forests insures that your interests are met in these documents.
