Many of the member clubs of the Colorado Association
have adopted roads and do volunteer projects on lands that are managed
by the BLM and the Forest Service to stop the lost mileage from road
closures. Through these agreements they are able to maintain public
access by doing maintenance, mitigating problems related to resource
damage, and by rehabilitating existing infrastructures. Through these
efforts the clubs reduce impacts to the environment and support the
managing agencies in keeping access available to the public. Annually
the clubs document thousands of volunteer
hours on their Adopt-A-Roads and volunteer
projects on the public lands across Colorado.
Another way to influence the management of the public
lands is to become involved with the Forest Service District, or BLM
Resource Area near you. Many scope projects
are done on the public lands each year, and your comments are important.
Also, giving comments during the Forest
Planning process is another important way to influence the future
management of our public lands.
