Title: "Christmas for Kids" Colorado Springs
Description: For the past several years, our local four-wheel drive community has been assisting the Department of Human Services with their "Christmas for Kids" program. Children in our community have a brighter Christmas as a result of "Christmas for Kids." Our four-wheel drive "teaming" is the heart of our success to bring hope and joy to less fortunate children. Over the years, our united efforts raised as much as $7000 a year, which went directly toward the needs of our local children for the Christmas season. This year, we hope to surpass all other records.

In order to achieve this goal, the first fundraiser is underway. On Saturday, September 26th, from 9 - 5, the first fundraiser will take place at RAM Off-Road Park, located at Mile Marker 6 on Hwy 94, east of Colorado Springs. Trails will be available for stock vehicles, modified vehicles, buggies, and ATV's. The entrance fee is $20 per vehicle, which includes all passengers and $5 per run to try the Challenge Course. Additionally, some of the XRRA race drivers and their buggies will be on hand offering rides to the adventurous. They will be offering two levels of rides: for $15 you can get of feel for what they do, for $25 they will take you on a ride that is sure to make you smile. All proceeds, minus gas for the buggy drivers and minimal operating expenses, will go to "Christmas for Kids."

The next fundraising event will take place in November (date to be announced) at Southside Johnnies with Arch Hooks as the main act. Details are still being ironed out. Watch your local four-wheel drive websites to find out more.

On Saturday, December 5th, the "Christmas for Kids" toy run will take place at 11am. Vehicles will meet at Kelly Johnson and North Academy Blvd's around 10am. Vehicles will then be escorted by the Colorado Springs Police Department to the Department of Human Services to drop off presents for children. A $10 donation to pay for the escort is being requested per vehicle, as the police escort has doubled in price to $850. Directly after the toy run, there will be a raffle held at Southside Johnnies. All proceeds collected at the raffle will also go to the purchase of gifts for children within the DHS system. Please come out with your Jeep decked out in it's finest holiday wear!

We all look forward to this wonderful event. Please join us in helping those less fortunate than ourselves.
